Escape to Rosario, or How I love electronic gadgets.

So, here I am, having a bite at a bar in Rosario, a city northern of Buenos Aires. I came here because there’s a congress for medical students, but also because I found myself craving for some escape from the city (ie: the city where I live)
I came on my own but my friend Emilse will be meeting me later on today.
So far, being on my own for a while feels good, but at the same time I realize that I am very not used to it, I don’t know how long I’d make it in a desert island (that’s probably badly spelled, but I love the contrasting images of a desert surrounded by water…)

Anyway, I wanted to share some highlights of the trip so far:
– on the way here I was able to play around with the different gadgets on my phone and found myself chatting on msn messenger with my brother while I was still in the bus. I was also able to keep track of our route through the gps… Wow, I mean… Wow!! It was only a few years ago that I couldn’t even connect to the Internet at WK to read my email or talk to my family… At that point I didn’t know what SMS or GSM or SIM card meant, and now I can chat online through a cellphone? It’s crazy. In fact I’m writing this post from a bar! my very first ectopic post! :)
– I finally got a chance to do some walking, after weeks of inactivity. I carried my two backpacks with me around the city while I did some sightseeing, and it felt great (triathlon runners abstain from criticizing please, I have the mind of a child but the body of an 80 year old).
– during my walk I came across a community center run by Italian immigrants to share their cultural heritage and keep it alive at the distance. It reminded me of a good friend of mine, Chiara, so I took this pic…

So, that’s all for now… Hopefully i’ll have lots of posting material after the congress :)
