Yes, Valentine’s is near…
It doesn’t mean we spinsters need to hide in our rooms for a whole day eating ice-cream. It can actually be a good chance to show those you care about, that you care enough to make a change in their name.
I came across this webpage thanks to Care2, the online community where the petition to free Mario Masuku of PUDEMO (Swaziland) is hosted. Thing is, Care2 sends daily tips on how to live a healthier, greener life, and since I am a bit uncreative in this matter but I am willing to learn, I signed up to their newsletter.
Anyway, I found a curious article titled “(Com)passionate Valentine’s Day Gifts“, where the author numbered a couple of interesting gifts. The one I was most interested in was “a pair of sheep”. The explanation read:
Give a pair of sheep to a family through Oxfam. At $45 a sheep, your $90 gift enables women to becoming self-sustaining through the sale of wool textiles.
Following my curious instinct, I click on the Oxfam link and landed on a great webpage! And I couldn’t help writing about it here, since their slogan was:
“Fun and unusual gifts for any occasion”
Perfect. Now you know! Want to surprise your loved one on their special day (including Valentine’s)? Why not buy a pair of school uniforms for usd18? or plant a 100 trees for usd60?
Ah! I already know what I want for Christmas this year! ;)
